Aviation accidents are rare. However, because airplanes often carry many passengers, when they do crash, they often result in a high number of fatalities and serious injuries. Webster Vicknair MacLeod has initiated lawsuits against companies like Pratt & Whitney, Cessna, and various other aviation firms due to wrongful deaths resulting from aviation accidents.
Helicopter Crashes
Helicopters are common in Houston and used by tourists, businesses, and offshore drilling rigs to transport workers and goods. In 2023, helicopters used for offshore transport alone were involved in 21 crashes involving the transport of oilfield workers to drilling platforms, resulting in 22 fatalities over five years. Around 33% of helicopter crashes in the country were due to pilot error. Mid-air collisions accounted for 18%, and equipment failure resulted in 25% of collisions.
